RHIANNON JOHNSON

Social Media Executive

The head of Project Porsches Social Media and also the daughter of the mad growler (pork pie for the unyorkshire people that may read this), porsche loving idiot that is HOO. Brought up in a mainly men household unfortunately not only inheriting his height and dumbness but his love of cars,F1 and planes. If she sees a car she likes she tends to shout like an idiot just so people know she likes the car. On the plus side lads are impressed that she likes cars and can tell a Murcielago from a Gallardo.

JOURNEY OF A PORSCHE 924

History Of Our Porsche

The Porsche 924 is a sports car produced by Porsche AG of Germany from 1976 to 1988. A two-door, 2+2 coupé, the 924 was intended to replace the 914 as the company's entry-level model, but when 914 production was ended early it launched a resurrected 912 instead.

Though the water-cooledfront-engined 928 gran turismo was designed first, the 924 was the first roadgoing Porsche with that configuration. It was also the first Porsche to be offered with a fully automatic transmission.

The 924 made its public debut in November 1975. It was panned by enthusiasts for its mediocre performance, but a sales success with just over 125,000 produced during a 1977-1988 production run, and an important profits generator for the company when the 911 was not selling enough to cover costs and the 928 was snapping at its heels as a replacement for the 911 line . The closely related 944 introduced in the U.S. market in 1983 was meant to replace the 924, but 924 production continued through 1985, followed by a 944-engined 924S through 1988. Our Porsche was built in 1979 in neckersulm at the audi plant where it was shipped to Colchester, Essex where she's enjoyed approximately 30 years of her life. Approximately 8 years ago a friend of ours bought her. Unfortunately she has been sat under a car port for the past 4/5 years and after visiting our friends down in Lincolnshire we asked if it would could potentially buy her and in January this year Project Porsche began by driving 2 and a half hours up the A1 arriving in Yorkshire. This Blog is a little on the side story of our journey of getting an underrated porsche perfect again.
